Having reread all the posting I agree about the free-for-all, Oxfordbands has a maintained sense of integrity and diluting this would definately be a step in the wrong direction, also there seems to be an increasing debate over articles anyway and some good ideas are developing in the comments sections themselves- this appears to be what people wanted anyway.

"Some boring old sod in bygone ages" - damn right!

People in the past were well dull: Boethius or Judas Priest? Like, duh!!

Which is better, St Augustine's Confessions or Love In An Elevator? Well, which one fucking rocks, dude?!?

(seriously, nice litle review, that...nowhere near 3000 words either)

Nice one, Ross. Smilex are a force of nature.

Always happy to have new reviewers on the site. Personally speaking, I think that the more radical ideas proposed by Joe and Danny (see comments on Boy Did Good) may lead to a bit of a free-for-all. I think one of this site's strengths is the quality of the writing, and I don't want to see that quality diluted by loads of uneditorialised posting- there's always the Comments sections and the Nightshift message board for that.

As for non-review articles, (for example, thoughts on venues or the local scene) I think that's a good idea, Joe. As always, we could do with a few more writers. I prefer writing reviews, but that's just me. (I did a piece on the closure of the X at the start of the year).

That'll do for now. More reviews coming soon. Keep the thoughts coming!
